서리청

서리청(書吏廳)
1796년(정조 20) 창건 - 2002년 복원
서리청은 화성유수부 관청의 여러 사무를 담당하는 하급 관리들이 근무하는 건물이다. 조선 정조 13년(1789) 수원읍을 옮길 당시에는 장남헌 동쪽에 서리청을 지었다. 화성 축성이 마무리되면서 서리청의 건물을 비장청으로 사용하고, 그 동쪽에 있던 금도청을 고쳐서 서리청으로 사용했다. 행궁 안의 건물들이 보통 10칸 내외 규모인데 비해 서리청은 22칸에 달한다. 서리청 마당 건너 남쪽에는 문서창고가 있다.

Local Clerk’s Office
This building was the office of clerks (seori) of the local government office. A large number of people worked in this office. To the south of this office is a warehouse where official documents were kept. During the royal banquet celebrating the 60th birthday of King Jeongjo’s mother, this building was used as a kitchen.
