정전(운한각) 正殿(雲漢閣)
보물 제2035호 - 1801년(순조 1) 창건 - 1966년 수리
운한각은 정조의 어진을 모시고 제사지내는 건물이다. 중앙에는 정조 어진을 모신 합자閤子를 두고, 좌우에 있는 익실에는 정조가 편찬한 책과 제사에 쓰는 물품을 보관했다. 보통 어진을 모시는 공간은 화려하게 치장하지만 검소한 생활을 강조한 정조의 뜻을 받들어 소박하게 만들고, 학문을 좋아하던 왕을 기리기 위해 익실에 서책을 봉안한 것이다. 이런 사례는 다른 영전에서는 보기 어렵다. 합자와 익실 바닥에는 온돌을 설치하여 5일마다 불을 넣어 습기를 제거했다. 고종 9년(1872)에 운한각 바닥을 마루로 개조하였지만 아궁이 흔적이 남아 있다.
순조는 1804년에 처음 화령전에 와서 작헌례를 올렸다. 이때 건물 이름을 운한각雲漢閣이라 짓고 현판의 글씨를 직접 써서 내렸다. 운한은 많은 서적을 탐구한 학자를 지칭하는 ‘운한소회雲漢昭回’에서 비롯된 표현으로 정조를 상징하는 말로도 종종 쓰였다.
현재 운한각에 봉안되어 있는 어진은 2004년에 다시 그린 표준영정이다. 원래 모셔져 있던 정조 어진은 1908년에 서울로 옮겨졌으나 1954년 부산 피난처에서 소실되고 말았다.

Unhangak Hall
Unhangak is the main hall of Hwaryeongjeon Shrine where the portrait of King Jeongjo is enshrined. The king’s portraits were located at the center. Books written by King Jeongjo and other items personally used by him were located on the left and right. Such shrines for royal portraits were usually splendidly decorated with a wooden canopy, but this hall was built in a simple style reflecting King Jeongjo’s emphasis on simple living.
Originally, this hall was built with a traditional Korean under-floor heating system called ondol, but it was replaced with a wooden floor in 1872. The fireplaces which were once used for the heating system can still be found at the back and sides of the building.
The original two portraits of King Jeongjo were moved to the capital in 1908, but were unfortunately lost in a fire in 1954. The portrait currently housed in this hall was newly painted in 2004.
